I'm Sam Jefferies a nineteen year old artist from York. I'll be studying at Leeds College of Art next year for a fine art degree. My take on art is spontaneity, every brush stroke ever mark and splash is me experimenting and fucking around with the paint on the spot which leaves a colourful and childish Mess. I've been influenced by the likes of Amadeo de Souza Cardoso, Pablo Picasso, Jean Michel-Basquiat, and my music.
My style often takes other influences from 1970's Brooklyn Graffiti and I try to portray characters important in my life whether for the music they create or the passions he holds about their place in society. I don't stick hidden messages in my paintings. If there is one it'll be there blaring in your face because I'll have scrawled it all over the canvas. If people take their own messages from my work that's fantastic, all I'm saying is that they were probably never intentional.
